Jessica’s Birth Story

Week 38 + 6 days
Had the “bloody show” in midnight, called the hospital and they asked me to monitor as they said it might take a week for first pregnancy.
I was feeling uncomfortable throughout the night, got the lower belly pain and back pain, I was kinda tossing the whole night.
Woke up 6am in the morning, the pain was getting more intense and frequent, so I started to time the contraction. Called the hospital again and they asked me to go and do an examination, the midwives said it was the first stage of labour and it might take another 2-3 days.
So my husband and I walked into the hospital in pjs, thinking we gonna go home afterwards. The pain got quite intense at this point, and I had to stop walking when the contraction hit.
Went to the hospital at 8ish, before 9am, the midwife examined me and said I was 8cm dilated. And they needed to contact my OB.
They monitored the baby for a few contractions and removed the monitor so I could stay mobile and move around to feel comfortable.
While I was discussing with my husband if I should get the epidural, the pain was very intense that I couldn’t focus, and the midwife said I’m ready for delivery without needing to examine again.
I believe I was pushing for about 15-20mins and my baby arrived safely without any medical intervention.
The course helped my husband and myself as my husband guided me to breathe when I was losing my focus. My husband found the playlist on my phone and put it on during labour, and it did help for sure.
Before my cousin recommended hypnobirthing to me, I was considering cesarean birth. And I’m proud for what I was able to do.
